A Lifeline for Mothers and Newborns in Coastal Thatta.
Al-Farabi Hospital in Thatta is a 30-bed healthcare facility, facility gifted by the Iran government as a goodwill gesture to flood-affected population of Thatta coastal areas including a large population of villages Baghan, SajanWaaree, Jangesar, Keti Bandar and Kharo Chan. Department of health GoS handed over this facility to PNFWH in April 2016. Located near KetiBunder, it serves as a crucial maternal, newborn, and child healthcare center in the flood-affected region, with a reported 52% contraceptive prevalence rate and high, active involvement in emergency obstetric care and community outreach services. The Farabi hospital has an outpatient department and an operation theatre for carrying out caesarean operation and minor surgeries.

It serves as a, “key” referral center for maternal and reproductive health services, particularly noted for its role in emergency obstetric care, newborn health, and community outreach in flood-affected districts.
- Operational Role:
During the 2022 flood crisis, the hospital was heavily utilized for antenatal bookings and safe deliveries, acting as a primary site for maternal health services.
